Next Shot

No matter how bad things are - whether on the golf course or in life - I am a firm believer that there is always a next shot full of hope and opportunity.

I know the deep shame, pain,  and sorrow that leads a person to believe that all hope is lost. I still carry the warts and scars that remind me how deeply wounded I was as a person, and how that hurt caused me to deeply wound people I cared deeply about. I am not proud of it, nor do I minimize my past. But those same warts and scars are also a reminder that healing is possible. There is a next shot.

My life as a caddie is deeply influenced by this belief. It is why I am unwavering in the encouragement I offer to players having a bad round. You may be in a deep bunker, but there is a next shot. And sometimes that next shot is amazing!
